Info re industriaL action - Know your rights when taking industrial actionS
16 | 09 |2008
All AWU members have a legal right to take protected industrial action to get a fair deal from their employer
Your employer has the right to dock your pay, however, you cannot be sacked for taking protected industrial action.
It is also illegal for anyone to bully you or intimidate you for participating in protected industrial action.
If you are participating in legal protected industrial action you do not owe a “duty of care” to patients. It is your employer’s obligation to make other arrangements while you are participating in protected industrial action.
If any manager of supervisor asks about your participation in protected industrial action, please direct them to talk to your union delegate.
If you have any other questions, please also ask your union delegates.
