Industrial Action to Start in QHealth
15 | 09 |2008
AWU members at Nambour, Mackay, QEII, and Logan Hospitals are putting on work bans this week as part of their collective bargaining negotiations with the State Government.
The bans will apply to porterage, cleaning, catering, plaster, courier, theatre, x-ray, security, and linen services.
QHealth is offering all employees a 3.25% pay rise, with an additional 0.75% if workers trade of conditions, including removing restrictions on contracting out jobs within Queensland Health.
AWU State Secretary Bill Ludwig said workers were just asking for the necessary resources to do their jobs properly.
“Health can’t operate without these workers doing their job properly. AWU members are just asking for the respect, recognition and resources they need to make sure Queensland has the best possible healthcare system.”
This is the first action taken by workers in Queensland Health during this years’ collective bargaining campaign.
