Update No.8 OPERATIONAL STAFF ASKED TO GIVE UP EMPLOYMENT SECURITY AND INCREASE WORKLOADS FOR 0.75% EXTRA
10 | 09 |2008
Queensland Health (QH) have made a revised offer to AWU members in this year’s enterprise bargaining campaign.
They are still offering a 3.25% pay rise. QH have offered an extra 0.75% if AWU members agree to undermine their future employment security by agreeing to the ‘Whole of Government’ policy that only requires ‘consultation’ before our jobs can be contracted out. Currently, contracting out can’t occur unless there is agreement from union members and their representatives at the Single Bargaining Unit.
Another condition of receiving an extra 0.75% is for members to potentially increase their workloads by agreeing to delete the current clauses that require QH to fill vacancies within a specified time frame.

But wait, there is still more: QH Secret Plan to Privatise Aged Care Facilities
If operational staff need any convincing about QH’s intention to contract out their jobs, they only need to look at the secret report that they commissioned the University of Queensland undertake to develop a plan to privatise all current QH aged care facilities.
It’s time to get ready for the campaign. Operational workers in QHealth have two choices: They can sit back and accept a ‘real’ wage cut, or they can get onboard with the campaign to get a fair go from QHealth.
Only AWU members can take industrial action to get a better deal. If you’re not in the AWU, you’ll have to accept what QHealth are offering.
