Update No.4 Negotiations commence in QHealth EBA 7

26 | 07 |2008

Queensland Health has refused to budge on its 3.25% wage offer in the first round of negotiations with the AWU.

The AWU met with representatives from both Queensland Health and the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations (DEIR) yesterday in the first negotiations of this year’s collective bargaining campaign.

DEIR confirmed that the only increase on the government’s original wages offer of 3.25% would have to come through productivity gains. DEIR and Queensland Health have not yet specified what ‘productivity gains’ they are seeking from Operational Staff however.

If we are going to get the best deal from this round of EB negotiations, we all need to stick together in the AWU.

If you’re already a member of the AWU, make sure you let your co-workers know that they need to be Union too. And make sure you let everyone know – ‘Operational Staff – Health Can’t Operate Without Us!’

The next negotiation meetings will being held on the 21st and 22nd of July. Further updates will be provided after these meetings.
