Welcome

On behalf of the Australian Workers' Union of Employees, Queensland I would like to welcome you to our website.

The AWU Queensland has a proud and long history. We've been there during some of the greatest and also some of the hardest times in the history of our great state. For more than 120 years, the AWU has been standing strong and smart with our members in a diverse range of industries and work sites from one end of Queensland to the other. Some of the industries that we cover include health, retail, hospitality, construction, sugar, mining, shearing and horse racing.

The conduct of industrial and other campaigns has changed a lot since the early days of the AWU, and the union has evolved and grown to meet these new challenges. The internet and email now plays a vital role in our communication with members, the provision of services and resources, and the conduct of successful campaigns.

Whatever the future has in store, whatever challenges are waiting around the corner, the AWU Queensland will be there standing proudly with our members. Through the use of tools such as this website we will meet these challenges and work with our members to achieve better outcomes in bargaining and industrial campaigns.

AWU members have every reason to be proud of this site. I hope you will find it useful and encourage you to check back regularly as new content is added regularly.
